Rugby United New York Athletes Selected for Rugby World Cup 2019
NEW YORK (September 11, 2019) – Rugby United New York is proud to announce that athletes Dylan Fawsitt, Nate Brakeley, and John Quill have been selected to play for the United States National Team in the 2019 Rugby World Cup. The Rugby World Cup is a quadrennial tournament that hosts the 20 best national teams in the world. Beginning on September 20, those teams will play matches in 12 venues throughout the host country of Japan.
Dylan Fawsitt, Hooker, played 15 matches with a total of 1,174 minutes for RUNY in the 2019 MLR Season. He was the top try scorer in the league with 13 tries, and one of the top points scorers in the league with 65 points. He completed 170 tackles successfully. He has 12 caps for the United States National Team.
Nate Brakeley, Lock, played in 15 matches in the 2019 MLR Season. He played the most minutes of his teammates this past season with 1,200 minutes. He had 238 successful tackles and carried for 322 meters. He was second in the league for the most lineout steals, with 7, and was in the top 10 players in the league for the most lineout takes, with 50. He has 21 caps for the United States National team, first appearing in the 2016 American Rugby Championship against Canada.
John Quill, Flanker, appeared in 12 matches during the 2019 MLR Season with a total of 771 minutes played. He had 38 lineout takes in the season, ranking #8 in the top 10 lineout takes. He carried the ball 89 times for 394 meters and finished the season with 116 tackles. With 36 caps for the United States, the flanker brings veteran leadership to the squad. He made his debut in 2012 against Russia, and this will be the second Rugby World Cup he has received selection for.

The United States will play 4 games during the World Cup: Thursday, September 26 against England; Wednesday, October 2 against France; Wednesday, October 9 against Argentina; and Sunday, October 13 against Tonga.
