NEW JERSEY’S OWN JAKE FEURY RETURNS TO RUNY
As RUNY look to dive in to the second half of the season sitting at 7-1 in the standings, the ‘Blue and Orange’ have bolstered their backline by adding RUNY original Jake Feury. Returning just a couple of weeks ago from time abroad, where he worked, travelled and most importantly played the beautiful game in England, Feury immediately signed with RUNY as the team went away to Austin.
Hailing from Denville New Jersey, the local product is sure to be an immediate impact having seen how the team plays in their exhibition season last year. Having already spent time on the same side of the pitch with many current Roosters is sure to help Feury slot in to the roster without major concern having missed the opening 8 games.
In his time abroad Feury has played at RUNY Rooster factory Trinity College in Dublin and most recently with Wimbledon RFC. But in America Feury is most noted for his minutes with local New Jersey powerhouse Morris as a local star. Combining both domestic and abroad experience Feury is looking forward to diving in to his second run with the Roosters stating:
“I am extremely fortunate for all the opportunities that I have been given, particularly over the past year. Most recently, I was lucky enough to get the chance to work and play rugby in England for a few months. After returning back New Jersey a few weeks ago, I could not be more thrilled and grateful to link back up with RUNY. I would like thank everyone who helped me get to this point, including my family, Morris Rugby and the Middlebury College Rugby Club. Moreover, I would like to thank the RUNY staff for inviting me back into the fold this year. The team has had an incredible first-half of the season and it was a pleasure to follow the journey from overseas. I am motivated to continue to improve my game and contribute in any way that I can to help bring an MLR championship to New York.”
Welcome to the Roosters Jake, we’re pumped to have you back!

About Rugby United New York
Rugby United New York is a professional rugby team who joined Major League Rugby as an associate member in 2018, playing a brief, but successful exhibition season. Their first full MLR schedule will take place in 2019. When they officially join the league, RUNY’s vision is to bring the excitement of professional rugby to the New York sports landscape. The use of rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, and discipline will help to educate, inspire and connect with the New York Community. Rugby United New York, the city’s first professional rugby franchise, strives to unite the entire rugby community and enrich it at every level throughout the region. The team was founded by James Kennedy of the Murphy Kennedy Group, who is an active supporter of grassroots rugby.
MLR is a professional rugby league that launched in April of 2018. It’s an initiative of the American rugby community, in partnership with private investors, who believe that American rugby can thrive at the highest levels: as a commercial enterprise; as an influential player on the international scene; and as a participation sport at the youth and senior level. MLR is the pinnacle of American rugby, and provides a rallying point for local communities, a focal point for American rugby fans, and an aspirational destination for young athletes.
