Nate Brakeley is a BEAST
Second Row Nate Brakeley has been putting on a show for RUNY fans throughout the first three weeks of the 2020 Major League Rugby season.
The Roosters have RATLed off two straight wins after a poor season opening performance against New England. Brakeley has been the heart and soul of the turn around- playing every minute and earning MLR 1st XV honors in back to back weeks.
Going into week three, the Dartmouth product leads the league in tackles (51)-only missing on three of his attempts. A pair of Toronto back rowers are not far behind, however. Tomas de la Vega and Lucas Rumball have completed 48 and 47, respectively. In the RUNY clubhouse, “the Butcher” Dylan Fawsitt is second in made tackles (35).
Brakeley has also been dominant in the line-out- offensively and defensively. He leads the league in line outs taken (21)- pairing with Dylan Fawsitt to create one of the most efficient duos in all of MLR. Only the Utah Warriors and San Diego Legion have won more of their own attacking line outs. Defensively, the big guy has taken two away from his opponents- good enough for third in the league.
Lastly, his work in the breakdown is border-line insane. Against Atlanta, he arrived at FIFTY (50) FIFTYÂ rucks on attack. Charlie Hewitt, who was second on the team, arrived at 25- not a number to scoff at either. No one works harder than him around the park. And somehow, he has played every minute this season.
A monster.
Watch him take on the Cat’s tomorrow at 6 PM est- live on CBS Sports Network.
